Adwick Allstars Ladies 5 v 2 Beighton Magpies
Adwick's ladies debut came at home against Beighton on a pleasant sunday afternoon.
The game was switched at the 11th hour to Highfields Welfare due to DMBC failure to prepare the Adwick Park pitch.
Allstars started the game brightly keeping possession well.
Beighton were mainly restricted to long through balls which Adwick dealt with comfortably, Jobes, Harris, Scorer and Powell nullifying Beighton's attempts.
As the game progressed Amie McKone began to command the midfield and after several surging runs it was no surprise when she fired the Allstars in front.
From a tight angle McKone struck a dipping shot off the bar which subsequently span back into the goal.
Allstars lead was extended by Tara Fisher who finished calmly under pressure to increase the scoreline.
The first half belonged to Adwick and when Tara Fisher broke away to double her tally and add Adwick's third Beighton looked out of the game.
Adwick were always threatening with Hogg and McKone linking up well on the right side, assisted by Camplin and Hunter down the left.
Beighton tried to force the game and approaching the break started to pass the ball with a little more authority. Following a Beighton chance which Martin in the Allstars goal snubbed out Adwick broke away giving Tara Fisher her hat-trick and Adwicks fourth. Fisher bundling home after her first attempt came back off the upright.
Half-Time 4v0
Beighton Magpies flew out of the blocks and scored within minutes of the restart. Beighton grew in confidence and after Adwick let the tempo drop were rewarded with a second.
The Allstars were reduced to ten players when substitute Richardson pulled up with a thigh strain.
Not preturbed Adwick still atempted to play their passing game with the game now getting stretched by the Magpies buoyancy and energy.
Adwick's back line stood firm and offered little to the visitors.
McKone's commanding performance was rewarded when she broke through Beightons resistance with another marauding run before driving home from 18yards to emphatically end Beighton's feigning hopes of a comeback.
Adwick ran out the clock tired but deserved winners.
